The story of the Vasa is a fascinating parable of hubris gone awry when people, who should know better, refuse to question those in charge. We were in Stockholm for a tech conference, and my wife and I had a semi-serious discussion about whether I should rewrite my talk on the spot to use the Vasa as a metaphor for project management problems we were seeing. Still open to giving that talk.
