A detailed, high-relief stone carving is set into a weathered stone wall. The central feature is a large, ornate shield, topped with a papal tiara and crossed keys. Within the shield, two mythical creatures; a top eagle looking to the left and below it is a mythological creature with wings and scales, and a dragon-like head with the body of a four legged animal. Flanking the shield on either side are nude, winged cherubic figures. They appear to be male, with muscular bodies and elaborate, curly hair, each rests on a scroll base with the tips pointing down. The stone wall shows signs of age, with variations in texture and tone, and areas of shadow suggesting an uneven surface. At the bottom of the carving there are two small pigeons.
